The construction of processing/freezing trawler of project 170701 has commenced under technical survey of Russian Maritime Register of Shipping(RS, the Register). The keel-laying ceremony of the prototype ship was held at Severnaya Verf shipyard on 23 November 2018.
The ceremony was attended by representatives of Federal Agency for Fishery, Governments of Saint-Petersburg and the Murmansk Region, United Shipbuilding Corporation, Russian Maritime Register of Shipping, Norebo Holding.
Igor Ponomarev, Director General of Severnaya Verf shipyard noted that the yard is systematically ramps up the production of civil ships. The number of orders for the construction of fishing vessels is growing as well. It became possible due to raft of legislation recently adopted by the RF Government and aimed at supporting of domestic manufacturers.
The most advanced engineering solutions will be applied during construction of the trawler. “Modern trawlers are technologically advanced ships fitted with sophisticated equipment. Project 170701 is a telling example of innovation approach. The trawler has conceptually new ship architecture – capsula-type bow and unique hull design owing to which the trawler will have advanced seaworthiness and expanded working area on board. Technology development, diversity of the particulars of ships under construction, and close interaction with shipyards, designers and customers are becoming an incentive for updating the RS requirements, thus assisting us in development of the RS rules. Experience and qualification of the RS specialists allows to competently resolve each challenging issue”, noted Mikhail Kuteev, Head of RS Baltic Branch.
The ship will be equipped with a modern fish processing plant providing a production capacity of more than 21 t of cod and haddock fillet, as well as at least 7 t of fishmeal per day. Besides, such plants process other species of fish – halibut and ocean perch. Freezing equipment of the trawler will provide a total capacity of over 60 t of product per day.
The new trawler with advanced design and technical characteristics will have an unrestricted area of navigation and will be able to operate in ice conditions. Construction is being carried out by the order of Rybprominvest, a company of Norebo Holding. A total of six trawlers are scheduled to be constructed to the RS class under this project for the Holding companies. The first ship is expected to be commissioned in 2020.
